Recently Rosey Dow invited me to join her on her Blog Talk Radio show The Prospect Profiler.
Rosey asked me several questions:
This past weekend was lovely. I’m sure those of you who have grand-children can relate.
It was my oldest grand-daughter Alex’s 9th birthday party and because the weather here is so beautiful the party was held at one of the local parks where they have these water slides and things for the kids to play in.
I had an opportunity again to be with all six of my grandchildren at the same time and it’s really nice to see how well they all interact. By the way I have two sets of twin grandchildren. My son has a daughter Alex who is 9 and a twin boy and girl of 7 and my daughter has a son of 9 and identical twin boys of six.
Quite a handful at times but I can of course go home at the end of a day so I get to have all the fun and none of the responsibility

And this one is of my grand-son Ashton who was playing ball and I actually got him to stop so I could take a photo which is no small feat as they get older!
I feel very lucky to have been blessed in such a short time with so many beautiful grand-children and they are already growing so fast. Since I work, I don’t get to see any of them more than once a week but I know I’m lucky to do that because so many grand-children live in different states.

About 10 days ago I went with my whole family to San Diego here in Southern California. My whole family being my son, his wife and 3 children and my daughter, her husband and their 3 children and one of my friends.
The photo to the right is of my two oldest grandchildren both 9 having fun at one of the local restaurants we went to where they made the kids balloon animals.
While we were there we spent a day at Sea World, which if you don’t know, is an amazing place not just for kids but for adults too. I found myself as immersed in all the shows as the children were plus it gave me food for thought.
Not all the animals were from the sea, there was also a show with dogs, cats and other animals that was quite amazing.
Then there were the killer whales. Well, if you’ve never seen them the way they are trained is truly incredible.
As I sat there watching I thought to myself, if they can train killer whales to do what they did then I never want to hear an excuse that I or anyone I know or work with can’t do what they want to do. To the left is just one of the photos I took of them.
The only thing I couldn’t make up my mind about was whether it was cruel to take any of these beautiful creatures and animals out of their natural environments and train them to perform!

Here’s the last part of my energize your mind article. In the first post, energize your mind, we talked about why it’s important in today’s business world to keep our minds energized. In the second post we looked at why going back to the basics might be just what we need.
Your business plan may also include products/services that might need a little updating or refreshing. For the entrepreneurs who market any kind of information, this is a really great time in business because there are so many new ways to gain visibility.
Article marketing is a mainstay however, why limit yourself? You can market your product through video, audio (podcast, CDs, MP3’s. Write a book, have an EBook or tips booklet. Social media marketing, if used correctly it can be a huge boon to a business and is becoming more and more popular. Energize your mind to include any and all new marketing and watch not only your customers increase but also your income.
Even if things may be slow when you first implement the new strategies and there might be a learning curve when you’re making changes in business, persevere, believe in yourself and imagine what huge success you can achieve.
Success can be its own reward however it’s only true if you are willing to pursue it. It’s also important to have an attitude of prosperity rather than one of lack. Work on accepting and letting go of having an attachment to a specific outcome. Much more will come into your life when you can do this.
Always remember that everything starts in your mind so clear out the negativity, fear and doubt. Treat it like a garden. Plant the seeds and they will grow. Your thoughts are the seeds the results are what comes from them. You can grow flowers or weeds. What do you choose to grow?
Remember that when challenges come up you can choose to learn from them instead of letting them stop you in your tracks.
When you allow yourself to step up and dream big, the sky is the limit. It’s possible to really grow when you have the attitude and vision to see beyond where you are now. So, think big and keep moving forward.

Yesterday we talked about how in today’s business world you need to Energize Your Mind. To follow-up with that post let’s take a look at why going back to basics might be just what we need!
Maybe it’s time to start over, renew your goals or make a new marketing and action plan. Take a look at your original business plan and marketing strategies. If it’s been a while, you may at that time have decided on one course of action to get the business started and yet now it feels stagnant.
This could be the perfect time to niche into a more defined market, to make new products, to facilitate teleconferences, to have joint venture partners, to get out and do some speaking! To do more with social networking! There are so many ways to promote your business!
The advantages and benefits of energizing your mind and branching out can be huge:
You may have started out looking to reach a more diverse group of customers/clients, you may have even said, “I can work with everybody.” Lots of entrepreneurs make this mistake. It’s really important to have a target market.
Instead of selling 30% to everybody, when you have a really targeted market you know are interested in your type of product/service your sales may increase to 80%.
Is that worth making a change? Yes of course it is! That’s how you energize your mind.

When you start a business there are often certain standards for success. It could be anything from increasing interaction with customers to using time-tested methods for getting the sale.
And, this is a good place to start. However, in today’s world of business many changes have taken place especially around marketing. This is where energizing your mind is important. You might want to check out what other entrepreneurs may be doing regarding making their business success. Work with a coach to help you increase your knowledge and income. Find a mentor or join a master-mind group.
If you are a new business owner other entrepreneurs might have a lot of helpful advice to contribute and although they probably won’t give away everything, usually they are willing to give some input. Don’t be afraid to reach out. The worse that can happen is they say is no.
It’s also important to have the attitude that you have choices. Sometimes a business can die from lack of creativity and willingness to change and expand when necessary.
Yes, It’s often true that what goes down will eventually come back up however, ask yourself if your business is not working the way you want it, can it wait that long? Or, would it benefit from an overhaul right now!
Living in sometimes unpredictable economic times can be a call to action on your part. Open your mind to the all the possibilities that can make and keep your business successful. Remember there’s really no such thing as failure if you look at everything as a learning experience and find the solutions instead of focusing on the problem.
Doing this will help to keep you motivated and moving forward.

Over the years I have found that one of the most motivating tools is a vision board. When you create a vision board then place it where you can see it every day, it becomes a very powerful motivator.

Use weekly quotes to jumpstart your week or a daily quote to jumpstart your day. Apply it to your life throughout each day. This will give you another success to add to your daily journaling.
